Eddie Acuff
Eddie Acuff (June 3, 1908 – December 17, 1956) was a prominent American actor best remembered for his portrayal of Mr. Beasley, the beloved postman, in the popular Blondie film series featuring Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake.
Born Edward DeKalb Acuff in Caruthersville, Missouri, he hailed from a family with a rich theatrical background; his maternal uncle was a performer on 19th-century showboats along the Mississippi River. Acuff's journey in entertainment began on Broadway in the early 1930s, where he showcased his talent in several productions, including *Jayhawker*, *Yellow Jack*, *John Brown*, *Growing Pains*, *Heat Lightning*, and *The Dark Hours*, all during 1934 or earlier.
Transitioning to film in 1934, Acuff appeared in various roles, including notable performances in three film serials: as Curly in *Jungle Girl*, Red Kelly in *Daredevils of the West*, and Spud Warner in *Chick Carter Detective*.
Eddie Acuff's career spanned over two decades, culminating in his death from a heart attack on December 17, 1956, in Hollywood, California. His legacy continues as he rests in Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery, remembered for his contributions to both stage and cinema.
