Marina Hands
Marina Hands, born on January 10, 1975, is a distinguished French actress known for her impactful performances on both stage and screen. The daughter of British director Terry Hands and French actress Ludmila Mikaël, she also comes from a lineage of artistic talent, being the granddaughter of Ukrainian-Greek painter Pierre Dmitrienko. Hands honed her craft at the Cours Florent and the CNSAD in France, as well as the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in the UK.
Her theatrical journey began in 1999 with a role in Dion Boucicault's "Le Bel Air de Londres," which earned her a nomination for a Molière Award. In film, she made her debut in Andrzej Żuławski's "La Fidélité" (2000) and gained further recognition with her role in "The Barbarian Invasions" (2003). Hands's performance in "Les Âmes grises" (2005) led to a nomination for the César Award for Most Promising Actress, and she continued to gain acclaim with her role in "Ne le dis à personne" (2006).
Her most celebrated role came in 2006 when she portrayed the titular character in "Lady Chatterley," an adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's work, earning her the César Award for Best Actress in 2007. Joining the Comédie-Française in 2006, she received another Molière Award nomination in 2008 for her performance in "Partage de midi." In 2011, she appeared in Claude Miller's "Voyez comme ils dansent," and in 2019, she played Elvira in the TV series "Mythomaniac."
