Hideyo Amamoto
Hideyo Amamoto (天本 英世 Amamoto Hideyo) was a renowned Japanese actor hailing from the Wakamatsu ward of Kitakyūshū. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Dr. Shinigami in the original Kamen Rider series, as well as for his performances in numerous tokusatsu films and the Godzilla franchise. Throughout much of his career, he adopted the stage name Eisei Amamoto, which originated from a misinterpretation of the kanji characters in his birth name, Hideyo. Amamoto's contributions to the film industry spanned several decades, leaving an indelible mark on the genre. He passed away on March 23, 2003, at the age of 77 due to acute pneumonia.
