The Battle of Okinawa (1971)
Plot
As American forces rapidly advance toward Okinawa, located just south of Japan, the Imperial command scrambles to send key generals and numerous army divisions to protect the island at all costs. However, the mission quickly falls apart as essential resources and troops are redirected to other islands. A civilian evacuation ends in disaster, leaving many non-combatants trapped and forcing some to take up arms. Confusion reigns as Tokyo sends conflicting orders, including a directive to construct an airstrip for nonexistent aircraft. Ultimately, it becomes clear that high command has abandoned the defenders. When the Americans land, many troops are misdeployed, leading to a rising death toll and a sense of despair that engulfs both soldiers and civilian volunteers alike.
