Jan Uuspõld
Jan Uuspõld, born on December 14, 1973, in Tallinn, Estonia, is a multifaceted talent known for his work in stage, television, radio, film, and music. As the eldest of three boys in the Uuspõld family, Jan grew up with his parents—Heidi, an accountant, and Ingar, a long-distance truck driver—in various locations, including Hiiu and Nõmme. He attended schools in Keila and Tallinn, where he discovered his passion for music in middle school, participating in a choir and later forming a punk band called Trakulla at the age of fifteen, inspired by the Estonian punk band J.M.K.E. This group eventually evolved into Luxury Filters, fusing jazz and Texas blues influences. Their breakout single "Tramm nr 66," featuring Uuspõld’s vocals, gained popularity in 1992.
Transitioning to acting after being inspired by Tõnu Kark's performance in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Jan enrolled in the EMA Higher Drama School, graduating in 1998. He joined the Estonian Drama Theatre, where he showcased his talent in numerous classic roles until 2013. Uuspõld explored television in the early 2000s, appearing in series like Wremja and Siperian Nero! His creative vision led him to co-create the comedic road movie Jan Uuspõld läheb Tartusse in 2007, where he humorously portrayed a fictionalized version of himself. Over the years, Jan has also made notable contributions to various theater projects, including establishing his own production company, Prem Productions.
