John Diehl
John Diehl, born on May 1, 1950, is a prolific American character actor renowned for his extensive body of work, which includes over 150 appearances across both film and television. He gained significant recognition for portraying Charles Kawalsky in the 1994 science fiction film Stargate, as well as Det. Larry Zito in the iconic 1980s police drama Miami Vice. Additionally, Diehl played Assistant Chief Ben Gilroy on The Shield and had a memorable role as "the Cruiser" in the comedy Stripes.
His impressive filmography also features standout performances such as Pvt. Bucklin, the spokesperson for the 2nd Maine mutineers in Gettysburg, Cooper in Jurassic Park III (2001), and G. Gordon Liddy in Oliver Stone's Nixon. Other notable appearances include the role of the Klansman informant known as "Mickey Mouse" in A Time to Kill and Keith, a credit card company supervisor in Mo Money. Furthermore, Diehl showcased his talent in a memorable series of commercials for Buick, where he portrayed the spirit of Harley Earl.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he completed his education at St. Xavier High School in 1968. At one point, Diehl even pursued a career in professional boxing, temporarily stepping away from his role in Miami Vice to explore that path.
