Growing up in Argenteuil, where his mother taught at a girls' school, Bruel initially dreamed of becoming a football player. However, his passion for music ignited after witnessing a performance by Michel Sardou in 1975.
Bruel's acting career took off with his role in the 1979 film "Le Coup de sirocco," leading to a diverse portfolio of over forty television and film appearances. His musical journey began with the release of his first single "Vide" in 1982, but it was his subsequent hit "Marre de cette nana-là" that propelled him to stardom. In 2002, his double album "Entre Deux" featured collaborations with iconic artists like Charles Aznavour and Jean-Jacques Goldman, selling two million copies and establishing him as France's highest-paid singer that year.
Bruel's personal life includes a marriage to writer Amanda Sthers, with whom he shares two sons, Oscar and Léon. He has been actively involved in charitable work, notably as a member of the Les Enfoirés ensemble since 1993.
