He also made his mark as a television producer and, under the moniker Munk, as the founder and vocalist of the punk band Velikije Luki. Uukkivi was raised in a family of two siblings and completed his secondary education at Tallinn 2nd Secondary School in 1980, before graduating from Tallinn Polytechnic School in 1984. He further honed his craft at the Tallinn Conservatory, earning a degree in Performing Arts in 1992, where he notably played Snug in "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Uukkivi's film career began with a notable role as Moppe in the 1993 comedy "Hysteria," followed by a leading performance as Toivo in "Tallinn pimeduses" (City Unplugged). His talent was further showcased in biographical films like "Jüri Rumm" and the family comedy "Kallis härra Q." In 2007, he featured in multiple films, including "Sügisball," an adaptation of Mati Unt's novel.
