Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu

Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu, born on July 2, 1949, and passing away on December 27, 2010, was a prominent French actor renowned for his extensive work across film, television, and theater, totaling over 100 performances throughout his career. Often cast in roles embodying villains, criminals, or psychopathic characters, he also lent his voice to numerous lead parts in English-language films dubbed into French.

Donnadieu pursued his education in theater and literature at the prestigious Sorbonne Paris III. His career gained traction in 1976 with significant roles in Roman Polanski's *The Tenant* and Claude Lelouch's *Second Chance*. However, it was the 1981 action thriller *The Professional*, directed by Georges Lautner, that catapulted him to wider fame alongside French cinema icon Jean-Paul Belmondo. He further showcased his talent in the titular role of *The Return of Martin Guerre* by Daniel Vigne and earned critical acclaim for his performance in George Sluizer's *The Vanishing*, winning best actor accolades at both the Madrid and Porto Film Festivals. Additionally, he received a César Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a menacing gang leader in *Rue Barbare* (1984). His final film role came in 2008 with *Paris 36*.

Donnadieu also made significant contributions to television, portraying historical figures such as Hubert-Joseph Henry in *L'Affaire Dreyfus*, and he frequently collaborated with director Yves Boisset. His theater career included many projects with director Georges Wilson. He succumbed to cancer at the age of 61.
