Anna Lena Elisabet Nyman (23 May 1944 – 4 February 2011) was a distinguished Swedish actress known for her impactful performances on both film and stage. Nyman embarked on her acting career in 1955 with various film roles, but it was her collaboration with director Vilgot Sjöman that truly propelled her into the spotlight. Her breakthrough came with the iconic film "I Am Curious (Yellow)" in 1967, where she portrayed a character bearing her own name in a pioneering pseudo-documentary format. This role was followed by its sequel, "I Am Curious (Blue)" in 1968.

Throughout her career, Nyman worked extensively with celebrated directors Hans Alfredson and Tage Danielsson, contributing to notable productions such as "Release the Prisoners to Spring" (1975) and "The Adventures of Picasso" (1978). She also acted alongside legendary talents like Ingrid Bergman and Liv Ullmann in Ingmar Bergman’s poignant film "Autumn Sonata" (1978).

In recognition of her artistic contributions, Nyman was awarded the prestigious royal medal Litteris et Artibus in 2004, and two years later, she received the Eugene O'Neill Award. Nyman's life came to an end on 4 February 2011, at the age of 66, after a prolonged struggle with illnesses including cancer, COPD, and Guillain–Barré syndrome. Her legacy as a versatile and passionate performer endures in the annals of Swedish cinema and theater.
