Joan Freeman
Joan Freeman, born on January 8, 1942, is a talented American actress whose career spans several decades. She began her journey in the entertainment industry as a child actor, making her film debut at the tender age of seven in 1949. During the early 1960s, Freeman gained recognition as Elma Gahrigner, a young waitress in the ABC series *Bus Stop*, sharing the screen with notable actors such as Marilyn Maxwell and Buddy Ebsen.
Freeman's breakout role came in 1962 when she portrayed Marilyn Hayes in the cult classic *Panic in Year Zero!*, featuring legendary actors Ray Milland and Jean Hagen, as well as teen idol Frankie Avalon, with whom she was rumored to have had a romance during filming. She also played Amelia Carter, a tourist guide, in *The Three Stooges Go Around the World in a Daze*.
Freeman is perhaps best known for her appearances in musical films of the 1960s, where she starred alongside Elvis Presley in *Roustabout* (1964) and Roy Orbison in *The Fastest Guitar Alive* (1967). That same year, she took on a comedic role opposite Don Knotts in *The Reluctant Astronaut*.
In 1977, she co-starred in the CBS series *Code R*, playing Barbara Robinson, a character involved in emergency services in the California Channel Islands. Throughout her career, Freeman made numerous guest appearances on popular television shows, including four notable episodes of *The Virginian*. Her final film appearance was as Mrs. Jarvis in the 1984 horror classic *Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter*.
