Michael Anderson Jr.
Michael Joseph Anderson Jr. (born August 6, 1943) is a renowned English actor with deep roots in the theatrical world, hailing from Hillingdon, Middlesex. He comes from a distinguished family of performers, as both his grandparents and great-great-aunt were celebrated actors. His father, Michael Anderson Sr., was a notable film director. Michael Jr. honed his craft at the Arts Educational School, where he studied both drama and ballet.
Over his career, which spanned from 1956 to 1998, Anderson appeared in a remarkable seventy-two films. Some of his most recognized works include “The Sundowners” (1960), “The Sons of Katie Elder” (1965), and “Major Dundee” (also released in 1965). One of his defining roles came in the 1976 science fiction film “Logan's Run,” where he played the character Doc alongside stars like Michael York, Jenny Agutter, Richard Jordan, and Farrah Fawcett.
In the 1966-1967 television season, he starred alongside Barbara Hershey in the ABC western series “The Monroes,” which depicted the struggles of five orphans in the Wyoming wilderness and was filmed around Grand Teton National Park. The show, however, did not complete its full season. Additionally, he made an appearance in a 1969 episode of “Love, American Style.” Michael Anderson Jr. is the stepson of actress Adrienne Ellis and has a step-sister, actress Laurie Holden, known for her roles in “The X-Files” and “The Walking Dead.” His brother, David Anderson, works as a producer.
