Plot
Henry Tawes, a sheriff in a small Tennessee town, prides himself on his moral standing while often judging others harshly. However, his discontented marriage leads him to an unexpected romance with Alma, a young woman whose allure is matched only by her father's criminal reputation as a moonshiner. As Henry navigates this tumultuous relationship, his integrity is put to the test when he considers protecting Carl McCain’s illicit activities to maintain his connection with Alma, forcing him to confront the contradictions within his own life.
