Plot

Violetta, a glamorous courtesan at the heart of Parisian high society, hosts an extravagant soirée where she meets the earnest Alfredo Germont. As he professes his love, Violetta grapples with her fragile health and the societal stigma of being a "fallen woman," complicating her feelings. Torn between her blossoming affection and the harsh realities of her life, she faces a poignant dilemma. Recorded live at the 2005 Salzburger Festspiele, Willy Decker's production features Anna Netrebko as Violetta, Rolando Villazón as Alfredo, and Thomas Hampson as Giorgio, with Carlo Rizzi conducting the Wiener Philharmoniker.
