Plot
In "The American Friend," Tom Ripley, a forger operating in the art world, feels insulted by framer Jonathan Zimmerman during an auction in Hamburg. When gangster Raoul Minot approaches Ripley with a request to eliminate a competitor, Ripley devises a plan to use Zimmerman, who is suffering from a terminal illness. Together, they manipulate Zimmerman into becoming an assassin, leveraging his condition to their advantage in a dark and twisted scheme.
