Plot

Sir Robert Thorndyke attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1939 but fails when his shot goes astray. After being apprehended and brutally tortured by the Gestapo, he escapes and returns to England, only to realize that his enemies are hot on his heels. Fearing his government will betray him to the Nazis, Sir Robert must vanish from sight, launching a desperate struggle for survival against relentless pursuers in a gripping fight for freedom and justice.
