Plot

After inadvertently killing his friend during the Civil War, a man returns to Abilene, only to discover his former love is set to marry the deceased friend's brother. Burdened by guilt, he declines to pursue her and reluctantly accepts the sheriff position when the brother requests help. Tormented by his past, he vows to avoid carrying a weapon. However, tensions escalate between ranchers and farmers, and when he learns of the brother's murder, he ultimately dons a gun to seek justice for his fallen comrade and confront the real danger in town.
