Plot
Cole Harden, a wandering drifter, finds himself in a precarious situation when self-styled Judge Roy Bean accuses him of horse theft, with hanging as the penalty. Using his wits, Harden claims to be an acquaintance of the judge's infatuation, stage actress Lillie Langtry, despite their lack of prior connection. As tensions escalate, Harden steps up to protect a group of beleaguered homesteaders from Bean's ruthless attempts to evict them, leading to an unexpected clash between the cunning drifter and the self-proclaimed lawman.
