Plot
In the 19th Century, a maritime tragedy leaves a man and a pregnant woman stranded in the African wilderness. After giving birth in their tree house, tragedy strikes as a group of apes inadvertently causes the death of both parents. One female ape adopts the orphaned boy, raising him as her own for the next two decades. When Captain Phillippe D'Arnot stumbles upon the young man, who believes he is an ape, he uncovers evidence linking him to the Earl of Greystoke. D'Arnot decides to help him transition back to human society.
