Plot
Roger Grant, a classical violinist, defies his family and mentor by forming a jazz band, ultimately achieving great success. As he develops feelings for the band’s singer, Stella, his fear of losing her causes him to sabotage her dreams of solo fame. The onset of World War I pulls them apart, and Stella marries Roger's best friend. Upon returning from the war in 1917, Roger finds himself entangled in a complicated reunion when an important Carnegie Hall concert brings their intertwined lives back into focus, forcing him to confront his feelings and the consequences of his actions.
