Plot

Just before the premiere of Earl Carroll's Vanities, leading lady Ann Ware faces an assassination attempt, jeopardizing her hopes of marrying co-star Eric Lander. Stage manager Jack Ellery enlists his friend, policeman Bill Murdock, to uncover the truth. Initially believing Jack merely wants to share a unique perspective on the show—since he forgot to secure tickets—Bill's night takes a dark turn when they discover a murdered woman's body. Suspicion quickly falls on Eric, adding a layer of intrigue to the already glamorous world of theater.
