Plot
Amid the harsh realities of the Great Depression, hitchhiker Steve Talbot crosses paths with jukebox hostess Lola Mears in the small town of Cat-Tail, Florida. Here, local farmers and laborers find themselves oppressed by a ruthless buyer who exploits them through monopolistic practices and treacherous contracts. Fueled by a desire for justice, Steve rallies the community to stand against their oppressor. However, his efforts ignite a dangerous chain of events, ultimately culminating in a violent confrontation as tensions escalate to the brink of a lynch mob.
