Plot

In 1813, Major Sharpe faces a treacherous challenge as his nemesis, Major Ducos, orchestrates a scheme to ruin him. Ducos persuades a stunning marquesa to falsely claim that Sharpe assaulted her. When her husband demands satisfaction in a duel, tragedy strikes as he is found dead the following day. Sharpe is swiftly arrested and put on trial, with the threat of execution looming large. Despite the unwavering support of Patrick Harper and the Chosen Men, it appears that Sharpe's honour—and life—hangs precariously in the balance.
