Plot
During the early stages of World War II, a German U-boat meets its end in Hudson Bay, Canada. A group of German soldiers, led by Lieutenant Hirth, seeks to escape capture by crossing into neutral United States territory. Their journey introduces them to a diverse cast of characters, including Johnnie, a courageous French-Canadian fur trapper; Peter, a leader of a Hutterite farming community; Philip, an insightful author; and Andy Brock, a determined soldier. Each encounter challenges their beliefs and resilience as they navigate the treacherous terrain of war and morality.
