Plot

USS Corsair, a US Navy submarine, prowls the North Atlantic in pursuit of German merchant raiders targeting Allied vessels. Newly assigned executive officer Lt. Ward Stewart transitions from commanding a PT boat to life underwater. Before starting his mission, he seeks a weekend leave to wrap up personal matters. On a train to Washington D.C., he unexpectedly meets Jean Hewlett, a school teacher from New London, and her class. Initially reluctant, Jean soon finds herself captivated by Stewart, leading to a budding romance amidst the backdrop of war.
