Plot

Thomas Jerome Newton, an extraterrestrial visitor, arrives on Earth seeking water to rescue his dying home world. With the assistance of attorney Oliver Farnsworth, Thomas leverages his advanced technological insights to create groundbreaking inventions. During his quest to devise a way to transport water, he encounters Mary-Lou, a reserved hotel clerk, and unexpectedly finds himself falling for her. However, just as he prepares to depart, the U.S. government intervenes, jeopardizing his mission and forcing him to confront unforeseen challenges.
