Plot

Pete Marshall arrives in the remote town of Plainville to replace a missing public opinion surveyor. His investigation leads him to the eccentric Fleagle family, where he grows increasingly suspicious of Mamie and her two sons, whom he suspects of murdering the surveyor. As he digs deeper, Pete becomes convinced that Mamie is also poisoning the wealthy Grandma Fleagle. The mystery intensifies when he discovers a crucial clue hidden in a bizarre embroidered sampler, hinting at a dark family secret tied to her fortune.
