Plot

At just twelve, Jennie navigates life in a remote mountain community, where child marriage is a grim tradition. Her schoolteacher, Miss Carol, returns after her education, determined to challenge this oppressive norm. Jennie's father, Ira, a kind-hearted man, strives to shield Miss Carol from local men who threaten her activism. Among these dangers is Jake Bolby, who sinisterly targets Jennie as his intended bride. As tensions rise, the fight against archaic customs intensifies, putting Jennie and the community's future at risk.
