Takva: A Man's Fear of God (2006)

Plot

Muharrem, a reserved and modest man, leads a life of solitude defined by prayer and strict sexual abstinence, following the harshest interpretations of Islamic teachings. His intense commitment catches the eye of a wealthy religious leader in Istanbul, who offers him a position as a rent collector for various properties. This new role plunges Muharrem into the modern world he has long shunned. Soon, he encounters conflicting views on alcohol and kindness, and he realizes he has become proud, overbearing, and even deceitful. Compounding his struggles, he is haunted by visions of a seductive woman, disturbing his inner peace and challenging his devotion to God.
