Plot

A poignant journey unfolds as Hajime, a high-powered businessman in his fifties, faces a pivotal moment in life. As he prepares to ascend to the helm of a leading electronics firm, he becomes consumed by work, neglecting his family. Tragedy strikes when his mother falls ill and his best friend dies unexpectedly. Returning to his hometown in Shimane, he confronts his past and rekindles dreams of his youth. Memories resurface of his aspiration to become a train conductor, specifically to operate the cherished local Ichibata Electric Railway, the "bataden," which has been in service since 1911.
