Plot

Set in the early 1900s, "Smiles of a Summer Night" follows middle-aged lawyer Fredrik Egerman, who has yet to consummate his marriage with his youthful wife, Anne. Complications arise when Fredrik's son develops feelings for his new stepmother. The situation intensifies when Fredrik's former lover, Desiree, wagers she can win him back during a weekend getaway, where four couples gather.
