Plot
Karl and Kristina Nilsson struggle to survive on their farm in the harsh, unforgiving landscape of 19th-century Sweden. Faced with escalating hardships and relentless social and religious oppression, they decide to leave their homeland in search of a better life. Joined by fellow villagers, they embark on a perilous ocean voyage followed by a challenging journey across land. Ultimately, they arrive in Minnesota, where they hope to find the promising new life they seek, even as they confront the trials of adapting to a foreign land.
