The Case of the Stuttering Bishop (1937)
Plot
An Australian Bishop seeks Perry's help with a cold case involving a woman, Ida Gilbert, accused of manslaughter two decades earlier. The investigation reveals complications surrounding the wealthy Mr. Brownley, who may have an imposter posing as his granddaughter. Just after their meeting, the Bishop is attacked in his hotel room, leading to a boat departure. When Perry confronts Brownley, he finds little progress. That night, a woman shoots Brownley, dropping Ida’s gun at the scene. Ida is swiftly arrested for the murder, prompting Perry to dive deeper into the tangled mystery.
