Veda Ann Borg
Veda Ann Borg, born on January 11, 1915, in Boston, Massachusetts, was a prominent American actress known for her significant contributions to film and television. The daughter of Swedish immigrant Gottfried Borg and Minna Noble, she embarked on her career as a model in 1936, shortly before securing a contract with Paramount Pictures.
Borg's journey took a dramatic turn in 1939 when she was involved in a car accident that required extensive reconstructive surgery on her face. Undeterred, she went on to appear in over a hundred films, showcasing her talent in notable works such as *Mildred Pierce*, *Chicken Every Sunday*, *Love Me or Leave Me*, *Guys and Dolls*, *Thunder in the Sun*, and *The Alamo* (1960).
As television emerged as a popular medium, Borg embraced the change, appearing in numerous series from 1952 to 1961. Her credits include appearances on *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*, *General Electric Theater*, *The Abbott and Costello Show*, *Bonanza*, and *Adventures of Superman*, among many others. Notably, she stepped in for Joan Blondell as "Honeybee Gillis" in *The Life of Riley* during the 1953-54 season.
Throughout her life, Borg was married twice, first to Paul Herrick in 1942 and later to director Andrew McLaglen from 1946 to 1958, with whom she had three children: Mary, Josh, and Andrew Victor McLaglen II. Veda Ann Borg passed away from cancer on August 16, 1973, in Hollywood, leaving behind a rich legacy in the entertainment industry.
