Episode Overview
Driven by their traumatic past, a brother and sister take it upon themselves to rescue another child from a similar fate. To achieve this, they commit a horrific act by murdering the boy's parents along with two employees. The VCTF steps in to investigate the brutal killings, and Sam quickly forms a connection with the traumatized boy. Initially, the murders are linked to the parents' mob connections, and while Sam is doubtful of this theory, she refrains from challenging it to prevent the boy from being placed into the system. He is soon placed in his uncle's care. As the investigation unfolds, the team uncovers that the boy's social worker and his so-called uncle are actually the siblings. Sam realizes they intend to become the boy's surrogate parents, wanting to create the perfect home they never had. Time is of the essence, as she fears they may soon realize the boy is being sought after.
