Episode Overview
A woman witnesses her partner's murder and later finds herself at a bar. This is Lauren, Nick's ex-wife, a lawyer investigating an organ trafficking scheme involving Dr. Julian Heller. Heller, an Immortal, profits from his medical skills turned sinister. He has a history with Amanda, who once helped deliver a woman accused of witchcraft, and their unresolved conflict lingers. Although Nick and Lauren share a moment of rekindled love, tragedy strikes when Heller kills her. Fueled by vengeance, Nick pursues Heller, but Amanda confronts him first and is momentarily killed. Nick intervenes just in time to save Amanda from losing her head, then he takes her sword and hunts Heller with a gun. In a tense chase, Nick ultimately overpowers Heller and beheads him. Amanda arrives just in time to absorb the Quickening, leaving Nick to mourn what could have been.
