Life Goes On (1989)
S04E14 Five to Midnight
Episode Overview
When Jesse's insurance expires, he finds himself moved to County Hospital, reminiscent of being sent to the Receiving Hospital in Detroit. Becca accompanies him during this challenging time. Jesse faces a near-fatal episode due to AIDS-related cardiac arrest, and as the clock strikes five to midnight, the doctors resort to shock therapy to save him. Meanwhile, Becca stumbles upon a haunting self-portrait of Jesse that he has no recollection of painting. In a dream, Jesse envisions a getaway to Paris with Becca, only for their taxi ride to be interrupted by a stop at the hospital, racking up an $11.55 fare—another nod to the significance of 11:55.
