The Animals of Farthing Wood (1993)

Episode Overview

Having met the charming Vixen, Fox feels more confident than ever. He asks her to be his mate, but she insists that he must earn her trust first. Still, she agrees to help him reunite with the other animals. They discover that the group has split into two paths, and they decide to separate, promising to return if one of them goes the wrong way. While on their respective paths, Fox and Vixen hear the sounds of the hunt, which is targeting Vixen. Fox races halfway up a steep hill to reach the other animals but turns back to divert the hunters away from her. Although he successfully distracts them for a time, he realizes with despair that Vixen is too weak and collapses. Just as a huntsman prepares to trample her, Adder appears and bites the horse's leg, causing it to rear and topple down the hill, allowing Vixen to escape.
