S16E06 The Acton House - 6
Episode Overview
The framing team is hard at work on the addition, lowering a hefty steel beam into position to support the upper floor. One of the framers showcases a pneumatic tool used for securing metal hangers to the wooden structures. Meanwhile, they begin laying the second floor deck, applying construction adhesive and fitting tongue and groove plywood together. Inside, Terry Maitland is busy pouring a footing for the missing lally column in the basement. A lead paint inspector arrives, using an x-ray machine to check for lead paint presence and levels in the aging building. Tom Silva tackles the task of replacing the decayed and poorly supported rear section of the old structure, while a lightning protection inspector from Underwriters Labs evaluates the building's safety system.
