On the picturesque island of Nantucket, architect Ann Beha's firm is busy expanding and updating the historic Atheneum, the local library. She also lends her expertise to a project in Salem. There, the crew sets up aluminum pump jack staging, a reliable and safe approach for the various trades working on the building's exterior. We explore some painting projects with contractor Mike McManus and ask him to fit our house into his busy schedule. The team completes reglazing the old window sashes using traditional mouth-blown restoration glass. In the basement, Richard Trethewey identifies an inefficient electric water heater servicing both sides of the house and an oil heater that needs some maintenance. Meanwhile, our master carpenter notices deteriorated clapboards on the upper third of the building and suggests they be replaced.
