Gunbuster (1988)

Overview

In a not-so-distant future, humanity embarks on its inaugural journey into the depths of the galaxy, only to encounter a massive race of insect-like aliens dubbed "Space Monsters." These creatures appear intent on wiping out humanity as they get closer to locating Earth. In response, humans create colossal battle robots, operated by specially chosen young pilots from around the globe. Among them is Noriko Takaya, the daughter of a renowned but deceased space captain. Despite her questionable piloting skills, she enrolls in a training academy, where she meets the talented and stunning Kazumi Amano. Together, they must confront the scars of war and navigate their conflicting emotions.
