G.B.H. (1991)
Overview
GBH, a seven-part drama crafted by Alan Bleasdale, aired on Channel 4 during the summer of 1991. Centered around Michael Murray, a Labour council leader with ties to the Militant tendency, and Jim Nelson, the headmaster of a troubled children's school, the show sparked controversy. Many perceived Murray as a portrayal of Derek Hatton, the former Deputy Leader of Liverpool City Council. Bleasdale even recounted an encounter with Hatton, who seemed unfazed by the resemblance, provided his on-screen counterpart was "handsome." While "GBH" typically indicates grievous bodily harm, it was intended to represent Great British Holiday.
