Michael Murray starts to suspect that his newly acquired political allies aren't entirely trustworthy. Meanwhile, Jim Nelson finds a moment of relief from Murray's relentless pursuit when he becomes a local hero following a tragic incident. Although he fails to save his student, Robbie Burns, his bravery earns him the unwavering loyalty of Robbie's father, Norman, and his tough brothers. However, as Murray intensifies his campaign against Jim, the pressure takes a toll, leading Jim to develop a fear of bridges. Seeking help, his doctor sends him to psychiatrist Dr. Goldup.
