Episode Overview

Louis falls ill with a fever, and while the official explanation is a hunting accident, the courtiers grow wary. Philippe inadvertently reveals to Rohan that he would become regent if Louis were to die. As a fevered Louis wanders the palace in his nightshirt, the truth starts to emerge. The queen, Cassel, and others convene secretly to strategize for a potential future without him. However, Louis makes a recovery, aided by Claudine Masson, the late court doctor’s daughter, whom he appoints as his new physician. With information from Fabien’s spy network, he uncovers the conspirators, particularly the Chevalier, and orders their arrest while finally granting Mademoiselle de Clermont her wish to enter a convent.
