Hope is working on an article that could jeopardize Susannah's Race St. Project, creating tension between her and Gary. As Gary and Susannah prepare for parenthood, Melissa expresses her disdain for Susannah and doubts the longevity of their relationship. Meanwhile, Hope receives interest from the Philadelphia Inquirer regarding the Race St. Project. After a chat with Rosie at Race St., she heads to City Hall to speak with Ellyn, who, recently single after her breakup with Woodman, becomes evasive when discussing the organization's ties to the government and requests Hope to stop recording. Hope later shares her concerns about potential financial discrepancies with Race St. grants with Michael. When Michael informs Gary, he believes both Hope and Ellyn are mistaken, but Rosie suggests that some of the claims are just the practicalities of running such a project.
