Episode Overview
The 511th Fighter Group arrives at Archbury to provide escort for the 918 on the final leg of their shuttle mission. Along the way, Troper engages a train, causing a delay of ten minutes for the meet-up. When the 511th fails to send the correct recognition codes, one pilot is shot down. Back on the ground, an infuriated Lieutenant Colonel Troper punches Gallagher, who advises him to let it go. They receive orders to train together. Later, Troper gets drunk in London, insults Gallagher, and leaves with Gallagher’s date, Fay. When Gallagher calls for a briefing at 0400, only 12 pilots from the 511th attend, prompting him to place Troper under house arrest. Merritt leads the remaining fighters, ensuring that none of the bombers are lost.
