Episode Overview
Sandy nearly collides with a Master Sergeant who’s searching for the 918th, and he speaks with a German accent. Gallagher is in the middle of briefing his Squadron commanders when they realize they’re dealing with a specialist. The mission involves the Muhlendorf Stetten factory, which is six hours away by air, but they only have enough fuel for a three-hour flight on vector 343. They end up landing in a Russian field occupied by Germans, where Lawson attempts to sabotage the bombsight but is killed. The Danzig Fighter Defense Command’s Reiniger Engine Works interrogates the crew, and they identify Schultz due to his distinctiveness. Tragically, Gerlach is killed, and Brunner takes over command, issuing orders for the men to be executed.
