Forensics: The Real CSI (2019)
S01E03 Every Contact Leaves a Trace
Episode Overview
In the heart of Newcastle, a teenage girl is brutally attacked by an unknown assailant in a nearby park. It's up to Kirsty Potter, the head of forensics for Northumbria Police, and senior investigating officer Shelley Hudson to track down the perpetrator swiftly. As time ticks away, the likelihood of gathering crucial forensic evidence diminishes, prompting a fast-tracking of intimate samples from the victim to a specialized lab for analysis. A review of local CCTV footage reveals a man in a distinctive jacket that matches the girl’s description. In addition to the conventional forensic techniques for collecting bodily fluids, DNA, and fibers, the police utilize their adept digital forensics team. Criminals may believe they can erase their tracks by deleting search histories and withholding passwords, but head of digital media Jerry Hewitt and his team remain undeterred.
