This vital process is known as "digestion," where your body breaks down food to extract necessary nutrients before eliminating what’s left. It all begins in your mouth, where your teeth and saliva work together to break food into smaller pieces. Afterward, you swallow, and the food travels down your esophagus to the stomach, where strong hydrochloric acid transforms it into a mushy substance called chyme.
