Episode Overview

Homer decides to pursue a promotion at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and pitches several ideas to Mr. Burns, all of which are shot down. One night, he overhears Burns revealing that the plant's true owner is a canary, meant to shield him from any blame for the plant's issues. Taking action, Homer frees the bird and informs Burns that inspectors are there for an unexpected visit. In a panic, Burns names Homer the new owner. As Homer takes charge and fires Burns, he soon realizes that being a CEO clashes with his family life. Ultimately, he chooses to revert to his old position and returns ownership to Burns.
